Choose a proxy by the work it needs to do
Start with your target locations, the number of simultaneous workspaces and whether an IP needs to remain the same. Use these requirements to compare plans before looking for the lowest advertised price.
Datacenter and residential plans are priced by IP count and term. Rotating residential plans use traffic allowances. Even with a long prepaid term, you need to check how long the IP is retained and whether it works with your target site.
- List the locations the task requires.
- Decide whether the task needs a stable exit or changing exits.
- Estimate IP count or measure traffic on a small sample.
- Review product specifications and test the actual target before scaling.
Compare network type, continuity and billing

Test the pages and tools you plan to use
Use your application to open a small selection of the pages you need. Record whether it connects, what content comes back and how much traffic it uses. An IP lookup checks the exit address; you still need to test the rest of the workflow.
If several people will use the setup, document which workspaces need separate exits. The number of browser profiles alone does not tell you the number of IPs to purchase.
Check what the billing period covers
Monthly billing tells you how often you pay. Check separately whether the IP stays the same, how much traffic is included and which protocols the plan supports.
